Happy February to all our wonderful Radius Magazine readers, customers and website visitors.

A quick look at what’s going on along the York high street reminds me that February is the month of Valentine’s Day – a historic celebration of love in many regions of the world.

I won’t be the first to point out that Valentine’s Day can bring out some mixed emotions in the general public – some hate it, some ignore it, others love it!

Here at the Radius, we’re using it as a chance to show some love to some local events that are coming up in our magazine areas in 2023.

If you don’t know already we have three local community magazines that are the longest-serving community magazines in those areas; with a presence in all three areas for over 30 years. We have the Driffield and surrounds, the Beverley and surrounds and the Pocklington and surrounds. For any advertising questions or queries, please do give us a call on 01904 635967.

Starting with Driffield, we’ve spotted a fun kid-friendly activity for the half-term, Saturday 11th February to Saturday 18th February. Nafferton Sports and Recreation Club are hosting a Gruffalo trail. It’s £1 for your map which allows you to search for the characters of Julia Donaldson’s famous story! To order maps send Nafferton Recreation Club a message on facebook or give them a call.

Also in Driffield, we are excited to let you know that Circus Montini is in town! This is taking place on the Driffield Showground from Thursday 16th March to Sunday 19th March. It promises to be a dazzling combination of theatre, music and dance not to be missed! You can book your tickets now at circusmontini.com or by calling 0844 4155 228.

If you happen to reside in our Beverley area, fear not! Circus Montini is also coming to you. From the 22nd March to the 26th March, you can find the talented team on Beverley Westwood. Get your tickets today – don’t miss their thrilling acrobatic spectacular!

Also in Beverley, we’ve spied a flower arranging Easter Workshop on Wednesday March 22nd at 7:30pm in the Armstrong Centre. You’ll be given expert tuition to make a beautiful table centerpiece. If that sounds like something you would enjoy – book your place here: https://buytickets.at/beverleyminsterprimaryptfa

Finally, but by no means least– Pocklington! Pocklington is always bustling and busy – 2023 will be no exception! We’ve noticed that Pocklington Arts Centre have introduced some Dementia Friendly Singing Sessions starting from the 23rd February. They are free and on Thursday Mornings, 10:30am – 12:00pm. No experience necessary.

Also in Pocklington, you could join the Library’s Reading Club! Pop into the Library on 23 Railway St, Pocklington and they’ll give you the details but we understand that it takes place on Tuesday’s from 5:30pm to 6:15pm with a set book to discuss each month! Please do make sure you get the full details about what’s going on first though.

Wherever you live, there’s always plenty to get involved in as we head into the lovely days of Spring.

That’s all for now but please do get in touch if any of our services can be of any use to you. We’re always more than happy to help!
