When Heaven Touched Filey
by Alan Botterill
Before March 1823 Filey had a notorious reputation as a place of great depravity, noted for ”vice and wickedness” Yet by the end of the same year: l Drunkards had changed to become good husbands and caring fathers. l Alcoholics had been cured immediately and permanently. l People’s illnesses, physical and mental, were cured through prayer. l A new spirit of generosity had grown in the town towards those in need. l People had started to genuinely care for their neighbours. That something remarkable had taken place cannot be doubted. This book examines what it was that occurred and what the longer term consequences were. It is a true account, based on actual facts, of the time:- ‘When Heaven Touched Filey’
