After the Workers’ Educational Association was formed in 1903 it achieved great success as a major provider of adult education with a distinct mission and style of learning but In recent years, with funding increasingly dependant on employability outcomes, it has become difficult to find the best way forward. This book provides a first-hand account of the WEA’s successful period in the 1990s and of the more challenging times which followed.
